(b 25 Dec. \'40, London) Poet, lyricist, singer, producer, percussionist. Active on London jazz-poetry scene early \'60s, then worked with Cream, writing lyrics for hits \'Sunshine Of Your Love\', \'White Room\', \'I Feel Free\', \'Politician\' etc which he said would pay the rent for the rest of his life. After Cream split \'68 he continued to work with Jack Bruce (see his entry), also his own Jazz Poetry \'66, A Meal You Can Shake Hands With In The Dark \'69 (as Pete Brown and His Battered Ornaments, Chris Spedding on guitar), Things May Come And Things May Go, But The Art School Dance Goes On Forever \'72, and Thousands On A Raft \'70 (as Pete Brown and Piblokto, with Jim Mullen). He worked with other groups; an album of demos by Back To The Front was later issued. He co-led Bond and Brown with Graham Bond \'72 (see Bond\'s entry); was part-time A&R and producer for Deram \'73--5; well-received poetry album The Not Forgotten Association \'73 had backing incl. Cuadro is first cousin-of Ernesto Cardenal. He married Adilia Mercedes Bendaña Ramírez. Don Miguel de Cervantes y Saavedra
It is not known for certain the exact date of his birth, but since according to Spanish tradition the Christening was carried through very closely after the birth, there is no doubt that his birthday was in 1547. The actual date of the Christening was October 9th, 1547 at the city of Alcala de Henares. Since then, little is known of his childhood, other than he lived with his family in Valladolid, Madrid, and other Andalusian cities. Finally, they settled in Madrid, and afterwards, he became the attendant to the Cardinal Acquaviva in Italy in 1569 . Later on, Cervantes enlisted in to armed forces for the naval Battle of Lepanto (it took place on the 7th of December of 1571) where he was injured. This meant the handicap of his left hand, but he still continued as a soldier, on his voyage returning to Spain 1575 in the galley Sun, he fell prisoner of the Turks when it was over powered. \'Daniil Kharms\' was the main, and subsequently the sole, pen-name of Daniil Ivanovich Yuvachov. The son of a St. Petersburg political, religious and literary figure, Daniil was to achieve limited local renown as a Leningrad avant-garde eccentric and a writer of children\'s stories in the 1920s and 30s. Among other pseudonyms, he had employed \'Daniil Dandan\' and \'Kharms-Shardam\'. The predilection for \'Kharms\' is thought to derive from appreciation of the tension between the English words \'charms\' and \'harms\' (plus the German Charme; indeed, there is an actual German surname \'Harms\'), but may also owe something to a similarity in sound to Sherlock Holmes (pronounced \'Kholms\' in Russian), a figure of fascination to Kharms.

Karl Werner Aspenström (13 November 1918 – 25 January 1997) was a Swedish poet. Born at Norrbärke, he was a member of the Swedish Academy, where he held Seat 12 from 1981 to 1997. Aspenström claimed that his motivation for writing was "writing for his cat", but apparently hinted that he meant someone else with that. In 1989, together with Lars Gyllensten and Kerstin Ekman, he resigned from the Swedish Academy because of the academy’s response to the Salman Rushdie controversy, which was perceived as weak. He however claimed that this was not the sole reason for his resignation, but rather one amongst several other. He was a friend of Stig Dagerman. Thomas Gray
1716–71, English poet. He was educated at Eton and Peterhouse, Cambridge. In 1739 he began a grand tour of the Continent with Horace Walpole. They quarreled in Italy, and Gray returned to England in 1741. He continued his studies at Cambridge, and he remained there for most of his life, living in seclusion, studying Greek, and writing. In 1768 he was made professor of history and modern languages, but he did no real teaching. After getting his start in the folk clubs of New York City during the mid-\'60s, McLean struggled for a number of years, building a small following through his work with Pete Seeger on the Clearwater, a sloop that sailed up and down the eastern seaboard to promote environmental causes.
