LDLouis Dudek
Louis Dudek, OC (February 6, 1918 – March 23, 2001) was a Canadian poet and literary critic and publisher of Polish origin. He is known for his writing, his role in defining Modernism in poetry, and his literary criticism. He was the author of over two dozen books of poetry, criticism, and other topics. He supported and initially published many poets, including other now-established writers including Daryl Hyne and Ken Norris. Born in Montreal, Quebec to a Catholic family which had emigrated from Poland, Dudek received a BA from McGill University in 1939. He joined the Department of English of McGill University in 1951, where he lectured in modern poetry. Dudek remained at McGill for the rest of his life. He founded Contact Press, a Montreal publisher of poetry in the 1950s and 1960s, with Raymond Souster and Irving Layton. Thomas Stearns Eliot, OM (26 September 1888–4 January 1965), was a poet, playwright and literary critic. He received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1948. Among his most famous writings are the poems The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, The Waste Land, The Hollow Men, Ash Wednesday and Four Quartets; the plays Murder in the Cathedral and The Cocktail Party; and the essay "Tradition and the Individual Talent". Eliot was born in the United States, moved to the United Kingdom in 1914 (at age 25), and became a British subject in 1927 at the age of 39. Of his nationality and its role in his work, Eliot said: "[My poetry] wouldn't be what it is if I'd been born in England, and it wouldn't be what it is if I'd stayed in America. It's a combination of things. But in its sources, in its emotional springs, it comes from America."

Constantine P. Cavafy, also known as Konstantin or Konstantinos Petrou Kavafis, or Kavaphes (Greek Êùíóôáíôßíïò Ð. Colin Forbes was the principal pseudonym of British novelist Raymond Harold Sawkins (born in Hampstead, London on 14 July 1923, died on 23 August 2006). Sawkins wrote over 40 books, mostly as Colin Forbes.
