Milton's powerful, rhetoric prose and the eloquence of his poetry had an immense influence especially on the 18th-century verse. Besides poems, Milton published pamphlets defending civil and religious rights. John Milton was born in London. His mother Sarah Jeffrey, a very religious person, was the daughter of a merchant sailor. His father, also named John, had risen to prosperity as a scrivener or law writer - he also composed music. The family was wealthy enough to afford a second house in the country. Milton's first teachers were his father, from whom he inherited love for art and music, and the writer Thomas Young, a graduate of St Andrews University. Adam Zagajewski (b. 21 June 1945 in Lwów, Soviet Union (now Lviv, Ukraine)) is a Polish poet, novelist, and essayist. Subsequently lyrical on meta-physical and cultural problems. He had lived in Paris since 1982. In 2002 he has moved to Kraków. His poem Try To Praise The Mutilated World, printed in The New Yorker, became famous after 9/11. Născut pe 6 octombrie 1914, jud.Constanța, plecat în veșnicie in iunie 1982. În 1936 absolvă Facultatea de Teologie. Publică volumele „Toamnă în paradis” - 1943 și Drumul soarelui - 1944. În perioada interbelică, scrie articole la revistele Gândirea, Meșterul Manole, Sfarmă-piatră, Convorbiri literare, Dacia rediviva s.a. A luptat în al doilea război mondial pentru eliberarea Basarabiei și apoi a fost corespondent de război pe frontul de vest. După terminarea războiului a fost hirotonisit preot în comuna Vințu de Jos - Alba. Este arestat din gara comunei, în 1951, sub acuzația de crime de război. Condamnat la 5 ani închisoare. Execută o parte din detenție la penitenciarele Jilava și Aiud. Eliberat în 1954 prin grațiere. Rearestat în 1958. Eliberat în 1964, odata cu ceilalti detinuti politici.
