JBJean de La Bruyère
He was born in Paris, not, as was once thought, at Dourdan (in today's Essonne département) in 1645. His family was middle class, and his reference to a certain Geoffroy de La Bruyère, a crusader, is only a satirical illustration of a method of self-ennoblement common in France as in some other countries. Indeed he himself always signed the name Delabruyère in one word, as evidence of this. He could trace his family back at least as far as his great-grandfather, who had been a strong Leaguer. La Bruyère's own father was controller general of finance to the Hôtel de Ville. The son was educated by the Oratorians and at the University of Orléans; he was called to the bar, and in 1673 bought a post in the revenue department at Caen, which gave him status and an income. His predecessor in the post was a relation of Jacques Benigne Bossuet, and it is thought that the transaction was the cause of La Bruyère's introduction to the great orator Bossuet, who from the date of his own...

Constantin (Costache) Oprișan (n. 1921 - d. iunie 1958, închisoarea Jilava, București) s-a născut la 16 martie 1921, în comuna Oncești, județul Bacău. După liceu, în anul 1940, se înscrie în Frățiile de Cruce. Începând prigoana regimului Ion Antonescu împotriva legionarilor, este nevoit să plece o vreme din țară, mergând în Germania. Acolo audiază cursurile de filozofie ținute de Martin Heidegger. Revine în țară și preia șefia Frățiilor de Cruce, la nivel național. În anul 1946 se înscrie la Facultatea de Litere și Filozofie din Cluj. Este arestat în data de 15 mai 1948, judecat și condamnat la 25 ani muncă silnică. Până în anul 1951, este deținut în închisoarea Pitești, unde trece prin procesul de reeducare, fiind unul din cei care au fost cel mai rău torturați. Transferat la Gherla, este bătut în continuare și, din cauza regimului de detenție, se îmbolnăvește de tuberculoză. În anul 1955 petrece o perioadă în Spitalul Penitenciar Văcărești. Rūmī is a descriptive name meaning "the Roman" since he lived most of his life in an area called Rūm because it was once ruled by the Byzantine Empire. According to tradition, Rumi was born in Balkh, Khorasan (now in Afghanistan), the hometown of his father's family.
