The beginning of my childhood was profoundly marked by one of my grandfather’s passions – literature. For him reading, living, the writings of so many did not seem to be enough, so he began writing his own stories that still echo in my memory and in my heart. I remember that one day I went to him and asked “What are you writing about?”. Looking at me for only a second and returning his eyes at the ink stained notebook he answered: “My life”. Regretful, I confess that that was the last dialogue we had. After that I began reading, reading everything he was writing. Two years after his death, I had met someone who changed everything. I stopped reading and began writing myself. It was such a new feeling. It seemed to be never ending. It still feels. Since the first time, you may think I am exaggerating, but it really was the first time I saw her when I felt this sudden urge of writing. Words like “Thank you” seem meaningless compared to the things that you have done for me.

Rev. John Jenkins (1872 - 1936), known by his bardic name of Gwili, was a Welsh poet and theologian, and served as Archdruid of the National Eisteddfod of Wales from 1932 to 1936. Jenkins was born at Hendy in Carmarthenshire. He was educated at Bangor Baptist College, University of Wales, Cardiff, and Jesus College, Oxford. Like all Archdruids, he was a winner of one of the major poetry prizes at the National Eisteddfod, in his case the Crown, which he won in 1901. He is one of the greatest poet of the Edo period, comparable with Matsuo Basho and Kobayashi Issa. He was born in Osaka, his real family name was Taniguchi. When he became 20 years old, he went to Edo and studied Haiku under Yahantei Soua. He named himself as Saicho. The master was gone when Buson was 27 years old, he stayed with Sunaoka Gando in Shimotuke. He had longing for Matsuo Basho, he began the long journeys like Basho, he went around Tohoku, Tango, Sanuki and so on. During this travel, he called himself Bushon. From 1758, he began to live in Kyoto, and he stayed there for rest of his life. RUMI Rumi is one of the most read and well known poets in the world. Jelaluddin Rumi was born in the Eastern part of the Ancient Persian Empire near Balkh (presently Afghanistan), on September 30, 1207. His first name literally means Majesty of Religion, Jalal means majesty and din means religion. Because of the threat of Mongol invasion in Persia his family fled, finally settling in Konya, Turkey. He passed away, on December 17, 1273. His shrine is in Konya. As a genius theologian, a brilliant scholar, and a pillar of Islam, he followed in his father place until his spiritual friend and teacher, Shams of Tabriz appeared in his life.
