Fakt ist, dass Gedichte von dem am 8. September 1804 in Ludwigsburg geborenen Eduard Mörike in fast jeder seriösen Lyrikanthologie der deutschen Klassik zu finden sind. Als ein Mensch, der das ihm aufgeschwätzte Priestertum als Zwangsjacke empfand und sich von diesem Fehlstart ins berufliche Leben nie mehr erholen sollte, ließ er den angestauten Weltschmerz (Liebeskummer inbegriffen) in Verse fließen, die Alfred Biese 1927 in seiner „Deutschen Literaturgeschichte“ trotz des ihnen zugrunde liegenden trüben Lebenswandels als „unsterbliche Lieder“ von „ruhiger, heiterer Schönheit“ preist. Kālidāsa a fost un poet și dramaturg hindu, care a înflorit aproximativ în secolul V al erei noastre. Puțin se cunoaște despre el; poemele lui sugerează că era un brahman. Multe opere sunt tradițional atribuite lui, dar unii cercetători au identificat ca șase nu sunt ale lui ci numai una. Drama în sanscrită The Recognition of Shakuntal este cea mai faimoasă din creația lui, calificată ca maximă expresie în toată literatura hindu din toate timpurile, Kalidasa este considerat cel mai mare scriitor din India.

René Depestre (born 29 August 1926) is a Haitian poet and communist. He lived in Cuba as an exile from the Duvalier regime for many years and was a founder of the Casa de las Americas publishing house. He is best known for his poetry. The city of Jacmel, his birthplace, is often evoked in his poetry and his novels, in particular Hadriana In All My Dreams (1988). He did his primary studies with the Breton Brothers of Christian Instruction. His father died in 1936 and Rene Depestre left his mother, his two brothers and his two sisters to go live with his maternal grandmother. From 1940 to 1944, he completed his secondary studies at the Pétion college in Port-au-Prince. Étincelles (Sparks), his first collection of poetry, appeared in 1945, prefaced by Edris Saint-Amand. Raymond Carver
The American short story writer and poet Raymond Carver was born in Clatskanie, Oregon, on May 25, 1938, and lived in Port Angeles, Washington during his last ten, sober years until his death from cancer on August 2, 1988. He was a Guggenheim Fellow in 1979 and was twice awarded grants from the National Endowment for the Arts. In 1983 Carver received the prestigious Mildred and Harold Strauss Living Award which gave him $35,000 per year tax free and required that he give up any employment other than writing, and in 1985 Poetry magazine\'s Levinson Prize.
