El 5 de Agosto de 1850 nace René Albert Guy de Maupassant, su madre sostuvo que nació en el castillo de Miromesnil en el distrito de Tourville-sur-Arques, aunque se sabe que posiblemte fue en Fécamp. Su infancia se desarrolló primero en Étretat, y más adelante en Yvetot y se vió entristecida por las continuas disputas entre un padre disoluto y violento y una madre neurótica, aunque se sabe que ella fue su mentora literaria. Maestro indiscutible dominó la narrativa dandole un matíz sórdido y muy humano; esto se refleja tanto en sus relatos, así como también en sus tres colecciones de recuerdos de viajes, y en sus seis novelas, entre ellas se pueden citar: \"Una vida\" de 1883; \"Bel Amí\" de 1885; \"Los dos hermanos\" de 1888; \"La mano izquierda\" de 1889 y \"Nuestro corazón\" de 1890. Encontro una muerte prematura el 6 de julio de 1893 debido a las crisis nerviosas ocasionadas por una sífilis hereditaria.

Gutierre de Cetina (Sevilla, 1520 - México, 1557), poeta español del Renacimiento y del Siglo de Oro español De familia noble y acomodada, vivió largo tiempo en Italia, donde fue soldado a las órdenes de Carlos I. En ese país entró en contacto con la lírica petrarquista que tanto habría de influir en él; leyó a Tansillo, Ludovico Ariosto y Pietro Bembo, pero su lírica se inspira fundamentalmente en la del toscano Francesco Petrarca, en la del valenciano Ausiàs March y en la del toledano Garcilaso de la Vega. Pasó mucho tiempo en la corte del príncipe de Ascoli, al que dedicó numerosas poemas, y frecuentó también a Luis de Leyva y al insigne humanista y poeta Diego Hurtado de Mendoza. Adoptó el sobrenombre pastoril de Vandalio y compuso un cancionero petrarquista a una hermosa Laura que cabe identificar con Laura Gonzaga. Yĕhudah Ha-Levi
Yĕhudah Ha-Levi nació en Tudela, actual Comunidad de Navarra en 1070. Es sin duda el máximo exponente de la poesía hebrea peninsular medieval. Tras dejar en su juventud su ciudad natal, cuna también de otros escritores ilustres, como el viajero Benjamín de Tudela y el filósofo Abraham Ibn Ezra, se estableció en las tierras musulmanas de Al Andalus, recibiendo allí una esmerada formación tanto en ciencias y medicina, como en leyes, teología y poética. Tuvo estrechas relaciones con los mejores poetas judíos y árabes de su época, gozando en vida de una fama extraordinaria. Tocó temas amorosos y báquicos, cantó a la amistad, lloró por la muerte de los seres queridos, reflexionó sobre asuntos muy humanos, ensalzó a Dios y trató de consolar a su pueblo en el exilio. Al final de su vida, dejó Sefarad y embarcó hacia Israel, deseando pasar sus últimos días en la añorada tierra de sus antepasados por él tan amada. Falleció en 1141.

Raymond Carver
The American short story writer and poet Raymond Carver was born in Clatskanie, Oregon, on May 25, 1938, and lived in Port Angeles, Washington during his last ten, sober years until his death from cancer on August 2, 1988. He was a Guggenheim Fellow in 1979 and was twice awarded grants from the National Endowment for the Arts. In 1983 Carver received the prestigious Mildred and Harold Strauss Living Award which gave him $35,000 per year tax free and required that he give up any employment other than writing, and in 1985 Poetry magazine\'s Levinson Prize. In 1988 he was elected to the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters and was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Letters from the University of Hartford.
