Rupert Chawner Brooke

Rupert Chawner Brooke (middle name sometimes given as Chaucer)(3 August 1887–23 April 1915) was an English poet known for his idealistic war sonnets written during the First World War (especially The Soldier); however, he never experienced combat at first hand. He was also known for his boyish good looks, which prompted the Irish poet William Butler Yeats to describe him as \"the handsomest young man in England\". English poet Brooke was born at 5 Hillmorton Road in Rugby, Warwickshire, the second of the three sons of William Parker Brooke, a Rugby schoolmaster, and Ruth Mary Brooke, née Cotterill. Don Miguel de Cervantes y Saavedra

It is not known for certain the exact date of his birth, but since according to Spanish tradition the Christening was carried through very closely after the birth, there is no doubt that his birthday was in 1547. The actual date of the Christening was October 9th, 1547 at the city of Alcala de Henares. Since then, little is known of his childhood, other than he lived with his family in Valladolid, Madrid, and other Andalusian cities. Finally, they settled in Madrid, and afterwards, he became the attendant to the Cardinal Acquaviva in Italy in 1569 . Later on, Cervantes enlisted in to armed forces for the naval Battle of Lepanto (it took place on the 7th of December of 1571) where he was injured. This meant the handicap of his left hand, but he still continued as a soldier, on his voyage returning to Spain 1575 in the galley Sun, he fell prisoner of the Turks when it was over powered. Robert Sheckley

Robert Sheckley, born in 1928, grew up in New Jersey and served in Korea before selling his first story in 1951. A master of satire and irony whose work has been called \"galactic humor,\" Sheckley was one of the first to portray gadgets that think for humans, such as intelligent refrigerators. Pete Brown

(b 25 Dec. \'40, London) Poet, lyricist, singer, producer, percussionist. Active on London jazz-poetry scene early \'60s, then worked with Cream, writing lyrics for hits \'Sunshine Of Your Love\', \'White Room\', \'I Feel Free\', \'Politician\' etc which he said would pay the rent for the rest of his life. After Cream split \'68 he continued to work with Jack Bruce (see his entry), also his own Jazz Poetry \'66, A Meal You Can Shake Hands With In The Dark \'69 (as Pete Brown and His Battered Ornaments, Chris Spedding on guitar), Things May Come And Things May Go, But The Art School Dance Goes On Forever \'72, and Thousands On A Raft \'70 (as Pete Brown and Piblokto, with Jim Mullen). He worked with other groups; an album of demos by Back To The Front was later issued. Phoebe Pratten

Phoebe Pratten was born in Canberra Australia in 1975. At the age of three, she was diagnosed with Peripheral Neuropathy. By 14 she was not able to walk anymore, as the disease affected the muscles. At the same time she couldn\'t make use of her hands or her arms, so she needed to find different ways of holding the pen. Her interests include art, alternative health and writing poetry. The first collection of poetry \"Layers of Silence\" was published in 1999.
