Anne Sexton

Anne Sexton was born Anne Gray Harvey in Newton, Massachusetts to Mary Gray Staples and Ralph Harvey. She spent most of her childhood in Boston. In 1945 she enrolled at Rogers Hall boarding school, Lowell, Massachusetts, later spending a year at Garland School. For a time she modeled for Boston`s Hart Agency. On August 16, 1948, she married Alfred Sexton and they remained together until 1973. She had two children named Linda Gray and Joyce Ladd. Selima Hill

Poet Selima Hill was born on 13 October 1945 in London, England and grew up in rural England and Wales. She read Moral Sciences at New Hall, Cambridge (1965-7). She regularly collaborates with artists and has worked on multimedia projects with the Royal Ballet, Welsh National Opera and BBC Bristol. She is a tutor at the Poetry School in London, and has taught creative writing in hospitals and prisons. Selima Hill won first prize in the 1988 Arvon Foundation/Observer International Poetry Competition for her long poem The Accumulation of Small Acts of Kindness, and her 1997 collection, Violet, was shortlisted for the Forward Poetry Prize (Best Poetry Collection of the Year), the T. S. Eliot Prize and the Whitbread Poetry Award. Her book of poetry, Bunny (2001), a series of poems about a young girl growing up in the 1950s, won the Whitbread Poetry Award. Selima Hill lives in Dorset. Her most recent book of poetry is The Hat (2008).

Kurt Weill

Biography Early Years Kurt Weill was born on 2 March 1900 in Dessau, Germany. The son of a cantor, Weill displayed musical talent early on. By the time he was twelve, he was composing and mounting concerts and dramatic works in the hall above his family\'s quarters in the Gemeindehaus. During the First World War, the teenage Weill was conscripted as a substitute accompanist at the Dessau Court Theater. After studying theory and composition with Albert Bing, Kapellmeister of the Theater, Weill enrolled at the Berlin Hochschule für Musik, but found the conservative training and the infrequent lessons with Engelbert Humperdinck too stifling. Vinicius de Moraes, nicknamed O Poetinha (the little poet) (October 19, 1913 - July 9, 1980), born Marcus Vinicius da Cruz de Mello Moraes in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, son of Lydia Cruz de Moraes and Clodoaldo Pereira da Silva Moraes, was a seminal figure in contemporary Brazilian music. As a poet, he wrote lyrics for a great number of songs that became all-time classics. He was also a composer of Bossa nova, a playwright, a diplomat and, as an interpreter of his own songs, he left several important albums. George Bernard Shaw

George Bernard Shaw (n.26 iulie 1856, Dublin - d. 2 noiembrie 1950, Ayot Saint Lawrence) a fost un scriitor irlandez, laureat al premiului Nobel pentru literatură în 1925, considerat cel mai mare dramaturg de limbă engleză de la William Shakespeare. Shaw s-a făcut cunoscut nu numai ca autor de piese de teatru, ci și ca critic de artă și publicist politic. George Bernard Shaw s-a născut la Dublin în Irlanda, în familia unui mic funcționar. Întrucât resursele materiale ale părinților erau foarte limitate, Shaw n-a putut merge la universitate, lucru pe care, de altfel, nu l-a regretat, socotind că "nu prea avea ce să învețe acolo".
