Lassi Nummi (born 1928) considers himself a prose-writer who has strayed into poetry. In a career spanning almost half a century and 25 collections of poetry, his preoccupations, and his central metaphors, have remained constant: landscape, trees, bushes, blades of grass. Interview by Tarja Roinila; poems translated by Herbert Lomas and Anselm Hollo 'During my "social period" I was on the board of the Writers' Union, and its chairman from 1969 to 1972; after that I worked for the Uusi Suomi newspaper and for the PEN Club, whose chairman I was from 1983 to 1988. I was a member of the Bible translation committee for the entire period of its existence, 17 years. A completely different choice would have been to become either a Buddhist or a Christian monk, or then to be a really convinced down-and-out- that might have been the most elegant solution. NCNichifor Crainic
Nichifor Crainic (din botez Ion Dobre, născut la 22 decembrie 1889, la Bulbucata, județul Vlașca, decedat la 20 august 1972 la Mogoșoaia lângă București) a fost un scriitor, poet, ziarist, om politic, autor, director de reviste, editor, filosof (creator al curentului gândirist), pedagog și teolog român. Pe plan politic s-a plasat la extrema dreaptă și a fost adeptul tendințelor tradiționaliste religioase, susținând că România trebuie să rămână credincioasă moștenirii spirituale creștin-ortodoxe. Crainic a debutat ca poet înaintea primului război mondial. Ca scriitor si teolog a condus revista "Flamura" și a fost directorul și mentorul uneia dintre cele mai importante reviste literare din perioada interbelică, "Gândirea". Germain Nouveau est l'aîné des 4 enfants de Félicien Nouveau (1826-1884) et de Marie Silvy (1832-1858). Germain Nouveau perd sa mère alors qu'il n'a que sept ans. Il est élevé par son grand-père. Après une enfance à Aix-en-Provence et des études qu'il effectue au petit séminaire, pensant même à embrasser la prêtrise, et après une année d’enseignement au lycée de Marseille en 1871-1872, Nouveau s'installe à Paris à l’automne 1872. Il publie son premier poème, "Sonnet d’été", dans La Renaissance artistique et littéraire, revue d’Émile Blémont et fait connaissance de Mallarmé, de Jean Richepin et les « Vivants » (Ponchon…) qui se réunissent au café Tabourey.
