To The Critics
\"Margaritas ante porcos\"

With lofty words you like to please
Your benefactors with such ease,
What care you show! The lengths you take
To cover-hide each cursed mistake.
What feel have you for those who can’t sustain
All your debauchery and all your gain-
For those who write simply from their heart
Not for riches or to appear the part,
Of philosophers who gather in vain
To devour what others have borne in pain;
What they oft times have written in blood
So they may reach the poets verse in masterhood.
So you spew with venom proud
All your nonsense-All too loud!
With your mouths you dig a wretched grave
Oh fools, it’s your own deaths over which you slave;
Let your pen dry and let you tongues abstain
Let time and hope wipe off your miserable stain;
For you are not worthy to give creed over what others extol
You whose words darken the page of the innocent soul:
And if tomorrows time will bring-another chance for you to say-
Another poisoned dried out verse-Just let your tongues whither away,

And always may your silence stay-
For you my critics-This I pray..
