Ode (in antique meter)
I didn\'t believe in ever learning transience
Forever young, enshrouded in my mantle
My eyes dreamily opened towards the star of
Solitude
When, all of a sudden, you tread in
You, suffering, oh heavenly sorrow
I drank deep the voluptous lees of relentless
Death.
Of Nessus\' dire combustion do I pitifully moan
Or like Hercules in his poisoned cloak
The fire within can not be quenched with all
The waters of the deep.
Scorched by my own dream I wail
On my own pyre I dissolve into blazes
Could I incandescently stream from within
A phoenix?
Shut lids over woeful eyes
Run to my bosom sad unconcern
That I may die in peace, give me
My selfă
