JCJim Carroll
James Dennis "Jim" Carroll (August 1, 1949 – September 11, 2009) was an author, poet, autobiographer, and punk musician. Carroll was best known for his 1978 autobiographical work The Basketball Diaries, which was made into the 1995 film of the same name, starring Leonardo DiCaprio as Carroll. Carroll was of Irish descent and attended Roman Catholic grammar schools from 1955 to 1963. In fall 1963, he entered public school, but was soon awarded a scholarship to the elite private school Trinity School (New York). He entered Trinity High School in 1964. Apart from being interested in writing, Carroll was an all-star basketball player throughout his grade school and high school career. He entered the "Biddy League" at age 13 and participated in the National High School All Star Game in 1966. Brian Chan was born in Guyana in 1949. He began to establish a reputation as a poet of talent with his work in Expression in the early 1970s, part of a group that included Janice Lowe (Shinebourne) and N.D. Williams. He had poems published in Caribbean Quarterly, Artrage, and One People’s Grief and is included in the Heinemann anthology of Caribbean poetry. His first collection of poems, Thief With Leaf (1988) won the 1988 Guyana Prize. His work is challenging and experimental, exploring not only experience, but the fictions we create in making sense of experience. He moved to Canada in the 1970s and his poems explore a territory in which Guyanese memories filter into the Canadian present. He currently lives in Edmonton. His second collection of poems, Fabula Rasa, was published in 1994. He is a musician (clarinetist) and accomplished painter.

FBFranz Bardon
Franz Bardon (December 1, 1909 – July 10, 1958), born in Opava, Austrian Silesia, was both a stage magician and student and teacher of Hermetics. He was member of Czech hermetic society Universalia. During World War II Bardon was at one point held in a concentration camp for refusing to participate in Nazi Mysticism. Bardon was rescued by Russian soldiers who raided the camp. Bardon continued his work in the fields of Hermetics until 1958 when he was arrested and imprisoned in Brno Czechoslovakia. Bardon died on July 10, 1958 while in the custody of police. He is best known for his three volumes on Hermetic magic. These volumes are Initiation Into Hermetics, The Practice of Magical Evocation and The Key to the True Quabbalah. Additionally there was a fourth work attributed to him by the title of Frabato the Magician, supposed to be a disguised autobiography.
