Adeline Virginia Woolf (Stephen )
Born Adeline Virginia Stephen in London to Sir Leslie Stephen, considered the father of the Bloomsbury Group, and Julia Prinsep Stephen (born Jackson) (1846–1895), she was educated by her parents in their literate and well-connected household at 22 Hyde Park Gate, Kensington. Virginia\'s parents had each been married previously, and their spouses had died. Consequently, the household contained the children of three marriages: Julia\'s children with her first husband Herbert Duckworth: George Duckworth (1868–1934); Stella Duckworth (1869–1897); and Gerald Duckworth (1870–1937). Laura Makepeace Stephen (1870–1945), Leslie\'s daughter with Minny Thackeray, who was declared mentally disabled and lived with them until she was institutionalised in 1891 to the end of her life; and Leslie and Julia\'s children: Vanessa Stephen (1879–1961); Thoby Stephen (1880–1906); Virginia; and Adrian Stephen (1883–1948). Sir Leslie Stephen\'s eminence as an editor, critic, and biographer, and his...

Jaime Sabines
Jaime Sabines Gutiérrez (March 25, 1926 - March 19, 1999) is arguably Mexico's most influential contemporary poet. Known as “the sniper of Literature” as he formed part of a group that transformed literature into reality, he wrote ten volumes of poetry, and his work has been translated into more than twelve languages. His writings chronicle the experience of everyday people in places such as the street, hospital, and playground. Sabines was also a politician. Jaime Sabines was born on March 25, 1926 in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas. Before he devoted himself to the study of literature, he spent three years studying medicine before moving on to his real vocation: Spanish and literature, studying at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), and obtaining a postgraduate degree. Sabines was an outstanding student at the Mexican Writers Centre from 1964 to 1965 and part of the jury for the Casa de las Americas prize. In addition to his literary activity, he participated in politics...

Braulio Arenas
Braulio Arenas (La Serena, April 4, 1913 - †Santiago May 12, 1988) was a Chilean poet and writer, founder of the surrealist Mandrágora group. Braulio Arenas lived most of his youth in the north of Chile, moving in his teens to Talca to study. There he encountered Teófilo Cid and Enrique Gómez Correa among others, and participated to literary activities with them. Years later, he started law studies in Santiago, which he soon abandoned to focus on writing. Through Eduardo Anguita, he met Vicente Huidobro, father of "Creationism" literary movement, which disputed literary inovations with Dada and Surrealism. Influenced by these European currents, Arenas founded with some friends, in 1938, the Surrealist group Mandrágora. This circle supported the Popular Front government. The same year, one of his short story, Gehenna, was published in Miguel Serrano's Antología del verdadero cuento en Chile. Arenas received in 1984 the Chilean National Prize for Literature, winning some recognition...

Brian Chan
Brian Chan was born in Guyana in 1949. He began to establish a reputation as a poet of talent with his work in Expression in the early 1970s, part of a group that included Janice Lowe (Shinebourne) and N.D. Williams. Jim Morrison
The facts are very simple. So simple that they might mislead you into thinking that the young man whose picture you see on this page is- well, a lot like a lot of other young men. But he isn`t. His full real name is James Douglas Morrison. He was born on December 8, 1943, in Melbourne, Fla.- which is near Cape Kennedy. Jim is six feet tall and has brown hair and haunting blue-grey eyes. After attending Florida State University, he moved to California, where he studied film-making at UCLA. Fortunately, he was side-tracked into the world of music (which had always held great interest for him) and he soon found himself the lead singer of a group called the Doors.

ron mael
In collaboration with vocalist brother Russell, composer/keyboardist Ron Mael was the mastermind behind the skewed pop smarts and wiseguy wordplay of cult favorite Sparks. Born August 12, 1950, in Culver City, CA, Mael spent his childhood modeling young men\'s apparel for mail-order catalogues; while attending UCLA in 1970, he and Russell formed their first group, Halfnelson. Although Todd Rundgren produced the band\'s self-titled 1971 debut, their quirky, tongue-in-cheek art pop initially failed to find an audience. After their manager successfully convinced the Maels to change the group\'s name, however, Sparks almost reached the Hot 100 with the single \"Wonder Girl.\" 1972\'s sublimely bizarre A Woofer in Tweeter\'s Clothing cemented the band\'s cult status, and scored another near-hit with \"Girl From Germany.\" Following the Maels\' relocation to England, 1974\'s glam-bubblegum opus Kimono My House reached the Top Five on the U.K. album charts and spawned two major British hits,...
