Georges Schehadé, né le 2 novembre 1905 à Alexandrie et mort le 17 janvier 1989 à Paris, est un poète et auteur dramatique libanais d'expression française. Issu d'une famille bourgeoise, ses parents le destinent à faire des études commerciales mais il préfère se tourner vers le droit. Sa licence obtenue, il devient rédacteur au Ministère de la Justice puis assistant de Gabriel Bounoure. Oct. 21, 1969, became the leading chronicler of the beat generation, a term that he coined to label a social and literary movement in the 1950s. Alphonse Allais (October 20, 1854 - October 28, 1905) was a French writer and humorist born in Honfleur, Calvados. He is the author of many collections of whimsical writings. A poet as much as a humorist, he in particular cultivated the verse form known as holorhyme, i.e. made up entirely of homophonous verses, where entire lines rhyme. The gothic romance, which is based on vampire myths and on the occurence of supernatural phenomenon, became the prototype of all subsequent vampire stories. Derek Alton Walcott (born January 23, 1930) is a Caribbean poet, playwright, writer and visual artist. Born in Castries, St. Lucia, he won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1992. His work, which developed independently of the schools of magic realism emerging in both South America and Europe at around the time of his birth, is intensely related to the symbolism of myth and its relationship to culture.
