S-a născut la Milano la 18 septembrie 1922. A făcut studii de literatură franceză la Universitatea Catolică din orașul natal și după ce a rămas pentru un timp în străinătate (Elveția, Paris, S.U.A.) a fost profesor de literatură mai întâi în licee, iar acum predă la Universitatea din Verona. Prima carte de poezie se intitulează Linea K. (Guanda, 1951), fiind urmată de: Il Bel Paese (La Meridiana, Milano, 1955); Il prete di Ratanà (Scheiwiller, Milano, 1959); Il male minore (Mondadori, Milano, 1960); Il prato più verde (Guanda, Milano, 1977); Il nastro di Moebius (Mondadori, Milano, 1980); Il cerchio aperto (Scheiwiller, Milano, 1983); Il tranviere metafisico (Scheiwiller, Milano, 1987). Jan Neruda
Jan Nerudajan Neruda s-a născut în Praga, Boemia, la 9 iulie 1834, fiu al unui băcan care a trăit în Malá Strana( Lesser Quarter) o regiune din Praga. Dupã ce studiază filozofia și filologia, el a lucrat ca profesor până în 1860, când devine ziarist liber-profesionist poet și scriitor. El a fost unul dintre reprezentații cei mai importanți ai realismului ceh. În lucrările sale, Neruda, promovează ideea de renaștere a patriotismului Ceh. El a participat la toate luptele culturale și politice ale generației sale. Neruda, pe lângă poezie și proză, a scris și satire despre micii burghezi din Praga. De asemenea, împreună cu romancierul și scriitorul Ellis Peters, a lucrat la o colecție de povestiri scurte, care au fost traduse și în engleză în 1957, Povídky malostranské (Tales Little Quarter). Biography Early Years Kurt Weill was born on 2 March 1900 in Dessau, Germany. The son of a cantor, Weill displayed musical talent early on. By the time he was twelve, he was composing and mounting concerts and dramatic works in the hall above his family\'s quarters in the Gemeindehaus. Poet and critic Craig Raine was born on 3 December 1944 in Bishop Auckland, England, and read English at Exeter College, Oxford. He lectured at Exeter College (1971-2), Lincoln College, Oxford, (1974-5), and Christ Church, Oxford, (1976-9), and was books editor for New Review (1977-8), editor of Quarto (1979-80), and poetry editor at the New Statesman (1981). Brian Chan was born in Guyana in 1949. He began to establish a reputation as a poet of talent with his work in Expression in the early 1970s, part of a group that included Janice Lowe (Shinebourne) and N.D. Williams. He had poems published in Caribbean Quarterly, Artrage, and One People’s Grief and is included in the Heinemann anthology of Caribbean poetry. His first collection of poems, Thief With Leaf (1988) won the 1988 Guyana Prize. His work is challenging and experimental, exploring not only experience, but the fictions we create in making sense of experience. He moved to Canada in the 1970s and his poems explore a territory in which Guyanese memories filter into the Canadian present. He currently lives in Edmonton. His second collection of poems, Fabula Rasa, was published in 1994. He is a musician (clarinetist) and accomplished painter.
