Alan Charles Brownjohn FRSL (born 28 July 1931) is an English poet and novelist. He was born in London and educated at Merton College, Oxford. He taught until 1979, when he became a full-time writer. He participated in Philip Hobsbaum's weekly poetry discussion meetings known as The Group. Alan Brownjohn is a Distinguished Supporter of the British Humanist Association. Christina Rossetti
Christina Georgina Rossetti, one of the most important women poets writing in nineteenth-century England, was born in London December 5, 1830, to Gabriele and Frances (Polidori) Rossetti. Although her fundamentally religious temperament was closer to her mother\'s, this youngest member of a remarkable family of poets, artists, and critics inherited many of her artistic tendencies from her father. Judging from somewhat idealized sketches made by her brother Dante, Christina as a teenager seems to have been quite attractive if not beautiful. In 1848 she became engaged to James Collinson, one of the minor Pre-Raphaelite brethren, but the engagement ended after he reverted to Roman Catholicism. When Professor Rossetti\'s failing health and eyesight forced him into retirement in 1853, Christina and her mother attempted to support the family by starting a day school, but had to give it up after a year or so. The beginning of my childhood was profoundly marked by one of my grandfather’s passions – literature. For him reading, living, the writings of so many did not seem to be enough, so he began writing his own stories that still echo in my memory and in my heart. I remember that one day I went to him and asked “What are you writing about?”. Looking at me for only a second and returning his eyes at the ink stained notebook he answered: “My life”. Regretful, I confess that that was the last dialogue we had. After that I began reading, reading everything he was writing. Two years after his death, I had met someone who changed everything. I stopped reading and began writing myself. It was such a new feeling. It seemed to be never ending. It still feels. Since the first time, you may think I am exaggerating, but it really was the first time I saw her when I felt this sudden urge of writing. Words like “Thank you” seem meaningless compared to the things that you have done for me.

Olly Komenda Soentgerath
Olly Komenda Soentgerath was born as German in Prague. She studied Germanistik and History at the Karl University. First poems appeared in the \"Prager day sheet\". In the Federal Republic of Germany she published so far ten poem volumes and a Prosaband. Seifert translated her poems into Czech and published them in three volumes in Prague two years before she received the 1984 Nobelprize. The poems of Olly Komenda Soentgerath were published in numerous anthologies, newspapers and magazines. They were toned and translated into several languages - the authoress is member of the PEN- club.She won several literary awards kept among others being the Culture Prize for Bibliography 1992 endowed by the Free State of Bavaria; the Honour Gift of Andreas Gryphius; and in 1996 the Kuenstlergilde endowed by the Federal Ministry of the Inside.

John Keats John Keats (October 31, 1795 – February 23, 1821) was one of the principal poets of the English Romantic movement. During his short life, his work received constant critical attacks from the periodicals of the day, though politics, rather than aesthetics, often dictated those opinions. The Peruvian poet and novelist Antonio Cisneros was born in Lima in 1942 where, from 1960 to 1964, he studied literature at the »Catholic University«. Later he undertook a PhD at the »San Marcos University«. He had already begun to publish his poems with much success in his first few years as a student. His volume of poetry »Destierro« came out in 1961 and is now regarded as among the classics of Latin-American lyric poetry. Early on he was still very much influenced by the Anglo-American beat-literature and inspired by its ironic gestures and its every-day sound. Kobayashi Issa (1763-1828) a fost un poet japonez. *** Kobayashi Issa (1763-1827) - original name Kobayashi Nobuyki - Also called Kobayashi Yataro, born in some sources on May 5, 1763 Kobayashi Issa was born in Kashiwabara, Shinano province (now part of Shinano Town, Nagano Prefecture), a son of a farmer. His father was widowed a few years after Issa was born. Issa was looked after by his grandmother until his father remarried. During this period, he started to study haiku under a local poet, Shimpo. William Diehl (December 4, 1924 – November 24, 2006) was an American novelist and photojournalist. Diehl was fifty years old and already a successful photographer and journalist when he decided he had not heeded his life calling. The day after his 50th birthday he began his first novel, Sharky's Machine, which was made into a movie directed by and starring Burt Reynolds. Diehl later completed eight more novels, including Primal Fear, which became a movie by the same name starring Richard Gere and Edward Norton. Diehl died at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia on November 24, 2006, of an aortic aneurism. He was a resident of Woodstock, Georgia at the time of his death and was working on his tenth novel.
