Este considerat unul din cei mai importanţi reprezentanţi ai romantismului german. Culege alături de Clemens Brentano o serie de legende și cântece populare germane pe care le reunesc sub titlul "Des Knaben Wunderhorn". Scriitorul francez Andre Breton va vedea în Achim von Arnim un suprarealist, în special pentru nuvela sa Isabella von Ägypten. Povestirea sa "Der tolle Invalide auf dem Fort Ratonneau" va fi ecranizată de regizorul Werner Herzog în filmul Lebenszeichen, acţiunea fiind mutată din Franţa medievală în Grecia ocupată de naziști. Achim von Armin (*26.01.1781, Berlin, †21.01.1831, Wiepersdorf) zählt zu den wichtigsten Vertretern der deutschen Romantik. Er sammelt zusammen mit Clemens Brentano Legenden und deutsche Volkslieder, die als "Des Knaben Wunderhorn" erscheinen.
