Alice Nahon est née le 16 août 1896 à Anvers, Belgique. Elle était la troisième d’une famille d’onze enfants. Son père était né aux Pays-Bas, mais de descendance française et sa mère Julia Gijsemans, venait de Putte près de Mechelen, où Alice a passé une bonne partie de son enfance. Elle fit ses études élémentaires à Oude God et, à partir de 1911, Alice étudia à l’École d’Agronomie à Overijse où elle va graduer. Toutefois, quand éclata la Première Guerre mondiale, elle devint étudiante infirmière à l’hôpital de Stuivenberg d’Anvers. Après plusieurs semaines de travail ardu, elle tomba malade à 18 ans à peine et il semblait que ses poumons étaient sérieusement attaqués. Elle poursuivit donc ses études à l’Académie d’Anvers et aux cours de littérature de Pol De Mont. Les années qui suivirent, Alice les passa au sanatorium, et à partir de 1917, elle va demeurer six ans à l’Institut Sint-Jozefs à Tessenderlo. Les médecins de là-bas vont la convaincre qu’elle était atteinte de tuberculose...

Lewis și Emma Kermott Lewis -1891- mama sa moare -1892- tatăl se căsătorește cu Isabel Warner -1912 ,,Hike and Aeroplane” e publicat sub pseudonimul ,,Tom Graham” -1922 ,,Babbitt” -1926 – răsplătit cu premiul Pulitzer penru ,, Main Street” și ,,Babbitt”, pe care îl refuză; în acest an moare tatăl său -1927 ,,Elmer Gantry” -1929 ,,Dodsworth” -1930 – se naște fiul său, Michael. Obține Premiul Nobel pentru Literatură -1945 ,,Cass Timberlane” 1947 ,,Kingsblood Royal 1949 ,,The God-Seeker” -moare în 1951 la Roma.

Anne Sexton was born Anne Gray Harvey in Newton, Massachusetts to Mary Gray Staples and Ralph Harvey. She spent most of her childhood in Boston. In 1945 she enrolled at Rogers Hall boarding school, Lowell, Massachusetts, later spending a year at Garland School. For a time she modeled for Boston`s Hart Agency.
