So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell, blue skies from pain.

Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail? A smile from a veil?

Do you think you can tell?

And did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts? Hot ashes for trees?

Hot air for a cool breeze? Cold comfort for change?

And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?

How I wish, how I wish you were here.

We’re just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,

Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears.

Wish you were here.

Ar fi fost bine sa mentionezi, in spatiul dedicat subtitlului, de exemplu, numele personale ale autorilor acestor versuri. Pink Floyd nu este totusi un animal colectiv amorf, ci o alchimie (deseori contradictorie, dar intotdeauna percutanta din punct de vedere creativ) de personalitati individuale puternic conturate.

De regula versurile unor formatii celebre sunt rezultatul unui efort comun al membrilor formatiei respective. Nu si in acest caz. Toate versurile de pe Wish You Were Here sunt creatia lui Roger Waters.

Deci, cu atit mai putin avem de a face cu versuri de \"Pink Floyd\".
