Luxuria
excerpt from "Gold's Judgement"

When Gold first touched female flesh, it quivered
Flashes of power, of mastery zigzaging her nerves
Seduction sprung metallic from voluptious bracelets
Rings, necklaces, earrings. Soft and trustworthily
Gold commodifies seduction.
When Mary Magdalene put on her golden earrings
Eruptions of wealth shimmering through her hair
Men flocked to her as if transfixed
Reaching for the wealth, for the mastery in gold
Via the female flesh.
Mary Magdalene’s daugthers step into her shoes
Seduced by the elusive serpent of gold
They aim for freedom, through enslavement
The gold in their dreams flickering uneasily
In obscure, claustrophobic rooms.
Gold and its power to commodify
To stir the Narcissus in you, the Dorian Gray
Of your ever-changing
Self-image
As bride, wife, daughter, mother, mistress,
Gold moulds your flesh into ounces
Of glittering longing for possession.
