Silent Prayers

Thousands of thoughts

That incriminate your mind,

Thousands of breaths

That make you hear the threats,

Thousands of words

That swing gently on mute cords,

Thousands of prayers

That are heard as dares.

You fear you don’t leave nothing behind,

You cry loud as maybe someone will here the sound,

You hope that what you make shall be found,

In the nothingness left by your footsteps on the ground.

You feel the world spinning too fast

You weep as you have already stepped into the past

You wonder if somebody will pull you back

From the war you’ve been fighting too long

You hope someone can erase that lack

That left you on your knees and so alone.

As night goes by, so slow, with your sigh

You remember each and every lie

And though they hurt you so

You just can’t let them go

And as your words begin to bleed

And your thoughts begin to mourn

Your breath grows colder and suddenly it’s torn

And your prayers shall never reach dawn.
